Whirlpool of India is looking seriously at 'kitchen space' in modern homes. Indicating this at a press conference here on Thursday, Shantanu Das Gupta, Vice-President (Marketing), said Whirlpool could come out with home appliances specifically to suit the needs of modern kitchens. Whirlpool, he said, could consider launching built-in higher range of kitchen products.
Mr. Gupta said Whirlpool was hoping to gain two percentage points market share in all categories of products it was selling now. In the refrigeration segment, the company had a market share of 25 per cent. He was confident that this would improve to 27 per cent in the current year. Similarly, it was hoping to increase its market share in washer business from 18 percent to 20 percent.
Whirlpool had around four per cent share in the air-conditioner market.
Mr. Gupta was confident to Whirlpool gaining a market share of 10 percent in the air-conditioner segment. Besides 'Mastermind' range of regrigerators, Whirlpool had launched 'Sensation Neo' washing machines and 'MagiColl' air-conditioners.
